I had always been in what I called “average guy shape” most of my adult life.
When I was a kid and teenager I ate what I wanted, played sports and was skinny; really, too skinny. Being skinny was never any fun growing up; people don’t realize a skinny kid can feel just as bad and get teased just as much as an over weight kid.

I worked out when I could in college, in between class and beer parties! But then I began to get the “skinny guy beer gut”! Well, as I got older, I began to notice that I was putting on a lot of fat and losing the little muscle tone I had. I have to admit, It didn't bother me much, because my thought was "at least I'm not skinny anymore!"

I really think I was in denial about not being in good shape anymore until one
day my dad made a comment when I took my shirt off while playing tennis; "what happened to you? look at that gut!". Well, I began to workout again; running, lifting weights in 3 to 6 months stretches; but never really had a plan/program or a goal in mind. It was one of those “figure it out as you go workouts”; it just did not work!

     W
ell,  one day while on vacation in Florida in January of 2007 I saw the infomericial for P90x and was immediately excited to order it and get going on what looked like an extremely challenging workout . While waiting for the dvd’s to show up I started to check out the Team Beachbody web site. This was what I had been missing in my workouts! I was so excited to see a web site totally devoted to tracking my progress and diet, and the fact that I HAD to login in
everyday when I worked out gave me the accountability I had been lacking in my previous programs. It also didn’t hurt that you could win cash and prizes just for logining in.

In spring 2008 I got divorced. To make a long story short, it sucked, but I battled through it, thanks in part to sticking with my fitness and healthly eating program. December of 2008 I recieved My NASM Personal Trainer Certification and have since been helping people on their journey to a healthier way of living. I have truly found my passion in life with personal training, and love working with a variety of clients helping them achieve their fitness goals.

If you met me four short years ago, you would have encountered a completely different person.  You would have met a girl who was tired, lethargic, uninspired, overweight and without direction.  On January 27th, 2006, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and didn’t recognize the person I saw in my reflection.  Instead of eating my way out of the emotion as I typically would have, I went for a walk.  That walk led me to make a better choice for dinner that night, which led me to…. another walk.

Over time, the walk turned into a jog, the jog turned into a run, the run led me to a gym, the gym had a good Trainer who helped me, my food choices became consistently different and I began to transform – not just physically, but emotionally.  As my body changed, so did my mind.  My sense of accomplishment grew and I realized that there was a cloud of insecurity I was living under that I didn’t even realize was there.  I always felt good about who I was and what I had to offer the world and the people around me, but it had been being overshadowed by the self-doubt that inevitably takes over by living an unhealthy life.

As I shed those forty-five pounds, I also shed the negative things that were holding me back and found the confidence to pursue the healthy life I had always wanted.  Fitness has become a permanent part of my life, not just as a lifestyle but as my career.  Now, I use what I have learned and experienced to help other people discover what they already have inside of them.  Strength.  Confidence.  Self-Worth.  Value.  Courage.  They’re all in there waiting to come out……Go find them!  I will help you….

I'm VERY happy to have discovered Team Beachbody almost 2 years ago. I'm a happily married stay-at-home dad, Personal Trainer, and Piano Teacher. I've made it thru P90X more than a few times, and I'm now to the point where I can mix up my workouts and feel GOOD about doing it.

When I first started P90X, I wasn't looking for physical results as much as I was looking to find positive MENTAL results. I've always been a negative person - my glass wasn't "half-full or half-empty"... it was BROKEN - and I wanted that changed. Working out daily gave me a reason to be more POSITIVE, and now I feel better mentally than I have ever felt in my life.

As a Personal Trainer, helping people feel good about themselves is my number one priority. I want people to know that fitness and better health isn't all PHYSICAL. It's about changing who you are, and realizing that a person's attitude goes a long way in maintaining a more positive lifestyle.

About two and a half years ago, I was not enjoying life. I was overweight, depressed, mad at the world and sick of my job. I felt like I was in a black hole and had no way out. I looked at my parents and older brothers and saw the pounds add up year after year. My dad has diabetes that was brought on by an unhealthy lifestyle and I saw myself heading down that same path. I knew if I was going to have any chance at a happy life, I had to make a lifestyle change for the better and soon!

I started out very simply walking. I would walk around the block, then around the neighborhood. Walking turned into jogging and I started to feel like I was accomplishing something. I next did something that would change my life completely. I joined a local gym and met Neil, my friend and mentor. Neil was the manager/personal trainer of the gym I had joined. He was very thorough in walking me through the ins and outs of the facility. At first, It was very awkward to work out there. I just kind of went through the motions, but Neil was there to answer any questions I had. It was a great help.

I started increasing my visits to the gym and began to enjoy it. Neil and I soon became workout partners and learned how to truly train with a purpose. With hard work and Neil’s guidance, I began loving it. Going to the gym became the highlight of my day. I was getting results and feeling better about myself. I learned what to eat and how to eat properly. I knew that if I wanted to become successful long term, I had to make my own meals. I even discovered a little cooking ability I never knew I had. I never enjoyed cooking but I have learned to like it. I lost over 60lbs and added more muscle than I have ever had. I gained a new perspective on life. I increased my energy levels and had a better outlook on the future. I began to understand that the mind and body are truly one.

About eight months into it, Neil (who is from Ireland) offered me an opportunity to move to Ireland and work at a gym that he and his brother was going to start. I first thought, WOW! Could I make that kind of dramatic change in my life? After a few months of contemplating it, I committed to it. I thought why not? I don't enjoy my current job being a telephone technician. I love to travel. Life is too short to be in a situation that doesn't make you happy.

So I went for it. I quit my job of ten years and bought a ticket. I stayed there for over 3 months and traveled the beautiful country of Ireland. I also managed to go to Holland/Amsterdam, Germany and Italy. I loved it! The one problem was that the gym was not going to plan and I knew I had to come back due to a lack of a green card. I needed the gym to be up and running to acquire it. The whole thing was an experience of a lifetime and I wouldn't change anything. It has made me who I am today.

So now I am back in the great USA and enjoying life. I am passing on good lifestyle habits to my family and have become a certified personal trainer. I know now that I want to give back the same joy of fitness that was once given to me. It has become a passion of mine and I know I can pass it on to others. I love to hear stories of personal triumph and want to help people make some of their own.
